Research Center for Poverty Alleviation in Inner Mongolia
Relied on the advantages of academic research and teaching, the Research Center for Poverty Alleviation in Inner Mongolia aims to combine the reality of the local region in order to develop related researches on poverty/anti-poverty theories, the construction of poverty governance system, and the evaluation system on measuring poverty.
From 2014 onward, under the National Basic Ability Construction Project of Western and Central China, there were 400,000 RMB being invested and the center has achieved its initial success today. The first Practice Teaching Base was established in Huhe Ondor Town, Bayan Nur City, in 2014 while the second one was founded in Haolaishan Village, Hohhot City, in 2016. Based on these two bases, a variety of social surveys were evolved. For example, the evaluation survey on the pilot program of poverty alleviation in Tissuewan and the poverty survey program called "Hundred Villages and Thousand Households" were all conducted in 2014. In 2016, a group of teachers and students also conducted a poverty survey in Wuchuan County. Cooperated with the Civil Administration Department and the Finance Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the center chaired a research project on the factors of the allocation of subsistence allowances funds in 2015. This year, the center also undertakes a project sponsored by the Inner Mongolia Philosophy and Social Science
Foundation, which aims to do research on the home-returned herdsmen's business startups. In addition, the center also edited a collection of materials on poverty survey and social practice in 2016. Nowadays, it cooperates with the Inner Mongolia Poverty Alleviation Office to conduct a third-party evaluation on poor counties.
The Research Center for Poverty Alleviation in Inner Mongolia attempts to construct a research platform to allow governments, regional universities, and social organizations working together to deal with the issue of poverty. By undertaking national and provincial projects, it is expected to become a research center for poverty/social governance and produce various influential scientific researches and consultation reports in order to play a major think tank role for the prosperity of ethnic minority regions.
